Like the rest of the United Kingdom, Wales has an ageing population. In 2008, 18 per cent of the population was over 65; by 2033 this is expected to rise to almost 26 per cent. Successive Welsh Governments have taken a progressive and inclusive approach to ageing policy since devolution. The appointment of an Older People’s Commissioner in 2008 was the first such post in the UK.

BGS Wales, hold twice yearly meetings, rotating between North and South Wales. These meetings are usually over two days and in addition to the main program, include parallel sessions on Stroke, Falls and Movement Disorders. We welcome academic posters and encourage all colleagues from the whole of the UK to attend. The dinner is well attended and also an enjoyable and integral part of the meeting, where all colleagues old or new are welcomed.
