Our Special Interest Groups and Sections (SIGS) offer scope to practice or research specific clinical and management areas. Groups hold their own annual scientific meetings or feature in parallel sessions at the British Geriatrics Society’s UK meetings. They also contribute their expertise to BGS responses to government consultation documents, publish guidelines and policy statements.
Most groups welcome as members doctors, nurses and therapists who are not members of the British Geriatrics Society.
The BGS does not have a stroke Special Interest Group. Many members of the BGS with a special interest, or sub-specialty in stroke however, are also members of the British Association of Stroke Physicians (BASP).
