Trainees Weekend 2021

Date range
28 - 30 April 2021
Credits
This meeting has applied for 15 credits of live CPD credit (expires 30 May 2021) and 15 credits Distance learning CPD accreditation (expires 30 April 2022) from the Royal College of Physicians (RCP)

This annual 2 days meeting is organised by geriatric medicine trainees, for geriatric medicine trainees, to identify and address key training and learning points within the speciality. Built around the current curriculum needs and experiences of junior doctors training for a career in geriatric medicine, it will see a mix of plenary presentations and workshops, a mock SCE exam, and practice consultant interviews.

The BGS has taken the decision to postpone the meeting until 10th and 11th June 2021

Given the escalation of the number of people in hospitals, the increasing withdrawal of study leave and colleagues isolating with COVID-19 symptoms, we took the necessary decision to postpone. As the leading health organisation for improving healthcare for older people, the BGS takes seriously its responsibility to protect clinicians and the public from contracting COVID-19 and to ensure that the NHS is as prepared as it can be for increased demand.

We are sorry the meeting won't happen but hope you understand the reasons for the decision. Given the extraordinary circumstances, we will transfer your registration to the next meeting and communicate those dates when they are confirmed. If you couldn't make the rescheduled dates, or prefer we'd refund your registration fee where applicable in full. Let us know  if you would prefer your registration to be transferred to a later meeting by emailing registrations@bgs.org.uk.

To adapt to the current world, BGS meetings will be delivered virtually.

Participants can expect the same high-quality educational content as in a face-to-face meeting, and there will be opportunities for virtual delegates to network before, during and after each meeting. Participants joining live will be able to engage with presenters and sponsors through interactive activities during the session, as well as through 1 to 1 and group calls and chats. Recordings of the presentations will be accessible post-event.

Participants will attend via Swapcard who provides simple access via web browser, tablet or phone. A browser other than Internet Explorer (IE) needs to be used. Found out how to participate in our vitual conferences and navigate the online platform.
